Of Pods, Packets, Plants & Promise...
A brief history of how America has bartered, bought and sold plants...from Bartram to Burbank to Ball. Follow the story of how the need to satisfy our "plant bug" evolved in the many ways we've imported, bred, packaged and marketed seeds and plants over time. Learn of a future president who smuggled seed from Europe, or of the seed potato that led to a farmer becoming a plantsman of “rock star” status. Using colorful seed packets, artful catalogs and period images, we explore our seed history from trading for maize to online ordering!
